Volunteer Opportunities and Student Placements
Volunteers are VIP’s at Rose of Sharon! We rely on the support of dedicated community members to help make our programs and services available to young families.
Volunteer Positions
Current opportunities are listed below:
- Bingo Volunteer
- We need a friendly person(s) to join our bingo volunteer team!
- No experience – no worries! We have a fantastic team lead who is happy to train & work with you.
- Our time slot at Bingo World & Gaming in Newmarket is Wednesday evenings, 8:00-10:00 pm, 3 weeks per month.
- We are looking for an individual who can volunteer for all shifts or alternate with other volunteers.
- Child Minding to help care for babies/children in our Child Development Centre (TB test required):
- Wednesday mornings: 9:00-11:30 am
- Typically 2-3 hour commitment per week
- Rosie’s Closet to help with the organization of donated items and packing care bags:
- Occasional Tuesdays: 8:30-11:30 am
- Additional help is always needed around holiday season.
*Note: Vulnerable Sector Checks are required. In-house volunteers are required to be COVID-19 double vaccinated. PPE is required when in the office.*
Volunteer Drivers
Rose of Sharon needs volunteers to deliver Family Care Packages (essentials such as fresh food, pantry staples, baby formula/food and baby care items such as diapers and wipes) from our main office in Newmarket to families across York Region.
- Current Opportunities:
- Backup drivers are needed for Family Care Package deliveries (schedule is on our Program Calendar)
